Mrs. Sarah E. Thomason was born in Henderson county, Kentucky, July 1, 1834. Her parents were Noah and Susan Eakins; she is the eldest of eleven children. She was first married January 6, 1852, to C. F. Sandifer, who died November 14, 1854, leaving her a widow with one child. She came with her parents to Texas in 1857. She was married September 1, 1858, to Henry Thomason, a native of Arkansas, who settled in Texas in 1852. He was born February 25, 1824, and his death occurred January 20, 1882; he was a successful farmer and stock raiser, and at an early day was a Texas Ranger, but took no part in the recent Civil War. In politics he was a democrat. Five children were born to this marriage, who are named as follows--John D., Mary, George, Bettie and Willie.
