HAMILTON COUNTY BOY KILLED

James R. Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Knight, of Knights Prairie Township, was seriously
hurt in a mine at Orient last Wednesday, from the effects of which he died that night about 6 p.m.

All of the facts that we can learn are that he was employed in the mine.  On Wednesday morning he was run over by a string of cars in the mine.  The young man was taken to the hospital at West Frankfort, and an heroic effect made to save his life, but death came at 6:00 o'clock that evening.

The remains were brought to his home in this county and funeral services conducted at Knights Prairie church Friday by Eld. W. C. Arnold of Carmi, assisted by Elder T. B. Hunt.

Frank Hunt, Same Ray, Charles Venters, Arthur Flannigan, Walter Oglesby, Harrison Knight, A. J. Lockwood went to West Frankfort Wednesday night and accompanied the remains of Ralph Knight here.  Ralph was killed in a mine at Orient Wednesday.

Revs. Arnold, of Carmi, and T. B. Hunt conducted the funeral of Ralph Knight at Knights Prairie Friday in the presence of a large concourse of friends.

Chas Lee, Frank Willis, Bill Crabtree, Sherman Shrum, John Crabtree and several other members of the labor unions at Orient helped conduct services at the funeral of Ralph Knight.
