John W. Knight
| John W. Knight was born March 18, 1829 in Christian
Co., KY and moved to Hamilton Co., IL abt 1859. He was the son of
John and Rachel Hankins Knight. John W. served in the Civil War
(Co. A, 40th IL Inf) and was said to have been a good soldier.
There is no record that he ever married. He died April 22, 1923 in
McLeansboro, Illinois and is buried at the Little Springs Primitive
Baptist Church cemetery in Hamilton Co., IL.
John W. is pictured here with the daughters of George P. Knight: Ina Gilmore, Birdie Lile, Delphia Lile and Pearline Dukes. He was their great uncle. |
