Tennessee "Tenny" Carr Standerfer

Obituary of Tennessee Carr, Dahlgren Echo., March 13, 1924:

Tennessee Carr Standerfer was born February 20, 1852 , in Nashville, Jackson County, Tennessee, and departed this life, March 9, 1924, at the age of 72 years and 19 days.

She was married to Russell Standerfer, January 26, 1879, in Hamilton County, Illinois.  To this union were born three children, two having died in infancy.

She professed faith in Christ early in life and united with the Ten Mile Baptist Church, later moving her membership to Blooming Grove, and later to Pleasant Hill, of which church, she remained a faithful member until death.  She always delighted to attend the services as long as her health permitted.

Aunt Tenny, as she was commonly called, will be greatly missed by her relatives and friends.  Besides one daughter, now Mrs. Ethel Stinson, wife of John Stinson of Dahlgren, Illinois, she leaves five grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, besides a host of relatives and friends.

"Previous loved one thou hast left us
And our loss we deeply feel
But 'tis God who has benefit us
He can all our sorrow heal."

Funeral services were conducted by Elder J. H. Voliva at Union church, at 2:00 o'clock, p.m., Monday afternoon, March 10, 1924, after which she was buried in the cemetery there.

[Tennessee Carr Standerfer was the daughter of Albert Fielding and Frances Harper Carr.  Russell was the son of Job and Mary E. Daily Standerfer, all  of Hamilton County, Illinois.]
