Israel Standefer (1781-1852)

STANDEFER, ISRAEL (1781-1852). Israel Standefer, member of the annexation convention, son of Israel and Susannah (Heard) Standefer, was born in Henry County, Virginia, on November 8, 1781. He lived for a time in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama before he and his wife, Naomi, came to Texas in December 1841. They settled at Tenoxtitlán on the Brazos River in Milam County, which Standefer represented in the Convention of 1845. The Standefers had eight children. Standefer died on October 28, 1852.
