Charles E. Standefer

Charles E. Standefer, 75, died at 5:12 a.m. Sunday, October 10, 1993, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.  He was employed with the GM&O Railroad for more than 20 years and retired several years ago.  The World War II Army veteran was a member of the Roodhouse American Legion and White Hall Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A son of the late Ebert and Francis (Mayberry) Standefer, he was born on July 24, 1918, in Carrollton.  He and the former Ruth Vinyard were married on September 15, 1945.  She died April 6, 1974.

Surviving are a brother, Clarence Standefer of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews.  Two infant sisters, Ruby and Rita Standefer, and a brother, Bob Standefer, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 1 until time of services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton.  Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse.
