Ally Z. Standefer

Ally Z. Standefer, 76, of Hettick, died Wednesday afternoon, December 21, 1994, at the Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville.
He was born December 5, 1918, in Greene County, the son of John and Flora (Ferguson) Standefer. He married Emily Allen August 27, 1937, in St. Charles, Mo. and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Ted Standefer of Petersburg; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalie Anderson and Ada Baker; and three brothers, Carl Standefer, Merle Standefer, and Kenneth Standefer.
A World War II Navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Alabama, Mr. Standefer was owner and operator of the Grandview Barber Shop in Springfield for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church in Hettick, Palmyra American Legion Post 1034, and Crewmen Association of the U.S.S. Alabama.
Visitation was from 9: a.m. Tuesday at Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, until service time at 10 a.m. Burial was at Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield, where military rites were conducted by Palmyra American Legion Post 1034.
Memorials are suggested to the Gilead Baptist Church or Northwestern Rescue Squad.
