One of Jena's pioneer citizens was called by death at her home in Jena at 4 a.m. last Friday when Miss Mary Ellen Sandiferd 69 years old, passed away after a long illness.  Miss Sandiferd had spent her entire life in this section.  She was a member of the Baptist church and had many friends in all denominations who join with the family in mourning her passing.

She is survived by her father, John Sandiferd and one brother, Dewitt Sandiferd of Jena.  She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Cora Johnson of Walters.
