Obituary of Mrs. Helen Standefer

Helen Standefer, 73, of Carrollton, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, 1987 at her home. She was born in Morgan Co., May 21, 1914, daughter of William and Etna Oberbey Raffety. She married Clarence Standefer July 5, 1936 in Jerseyville, and he survives.
Also surviving are two aunts, Margene Scharfenberg and Ruth Woods, both of Greenfield; one uncle, Edgar Raffety of White Hall; and two nephews, Norman Raffety and Michael Raffety, both of Hennepin. She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Mrs. Standefer was a sales clerk and head cashier at Walgreens in Wood River for 26 years, retiring in 1974.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, July 20 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Rev. David Tyler officiated. The organist was Michelle Portwood, and she played several selections.
Pallbearers were: Norman Raffety, Michael Raffety, George Price, Paul Grizzle, Pete Khlontos and Rick Hires. Burial was in Carrollton City Cemetery.
