Standefer. I am in need of some clues about the father of

79. August 4, 1999: I'd particularly like proof of which Ephraim
Standiford was the son of my ancestors Israel and Cassandra Anderson
Standiford. I've been sure it was the Ephraim who had road duties in
Orange Co., NC (in the area which became Ashe Co.) in 1785. He was in the
Ashe Co. census/tax records of Ashe Co. in 1800, 1810, 1815 and 1820. Ruth
Standiford, sister of Ephraim, and her husband William Turner (my ancestors)
moved to this same area, and descendants are still there. Yet, I've been told
that Israel and Cassandra's son Ephraim was the one who went to PA in 1767 and
on the KY in 1780, dying in Nelson Co., KY. I believe this is a different
Ephraim, though undoubtedly closely related as indicated by the use of given
names. It doesn't seem logical that the Ephraim who went to Orange Co. and
was an adjacent neighbor to Israel wasn't the son of Israel and Cassandra but
that one who followed a completely different migration pattern was.

that my line goes back to a James Sandefur, b. abt 1722 in Elizabeth City,
VA. However, his father's name was John and I'm stuck. Either there
were a lot of Johns or the same one was very prolific. Any help?
Terry Sandefur.
