Last Will and Testament of John Stanford
IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I John Standford of Dorchester County in the Province of Maryland being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God for the same, but calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
IMPRIMIS. First of all I recommend my soul into the power of Almighty God hoping through the merits (sic) death and passion of our Savior Jesus Christ to receive remission for all the sins and offenses of my past life; my body I bequeath to the earth to be burried in a decent manner at the discretion of my executor hereafter named, and as touching such worldly estate which it hath please God to bless me with all I give, devise and dispose of in the following manner and form:
Item. I give and bequeath to my brother Charles Standford a new Duffell Coat at William Nortons.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas Standford all and every and other part belonging to my estate that shall be found belonging to me.
Lastly. I nominate and constitute and appoint my beloved brother Thomas Standford sole executor of this my last will and testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament revoking and annulling all other wills and testaments confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of December 1745.
