William Coker family

Among other relatives pictured are Eliza Coker Stelle (next to Mrs. William Coker) her husband, John Patterson Stelle (the very short man in the middle row, third from right) and their children. The story that goes with this picture, which was taken in the 1870s, I believe, was that the old man fainted. But the photographer was there, and the photograph needed to be taken. Mr. Coker was carried inside to cool off for a while, and then they just brought him out and propped him up for the picture.
