Virginia Marriages - Wm. Standiford

William Standeford +Jemima Jones m. June 24, 1779

"Know all men by these presents that we William Standiford and John Rentfro of the County of Henry are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just sum of Fifty pounds current money.  To which payment will truly be made we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Spons & Amd firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this 24th Day of June 1779.  Whereas there is a marriage depending and by God's permission surely intended between the above bound Wm. Standiford and Jemima Jones, daughter of Thomas Jones.  Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if there is no Lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void or else to remain in full force Power and Virtue.   Signed, Sealed and Delivered in the presence of William Standiford, John Rentfro."
