DAHLGREN
A little town, known an Cottonwood, in Little Prairie was the site the St. Louis and Southeastern Railway Company chose to lay their track in the early 1870s. According to the History of Dahlgren (found on this Website), the name Cottonwood was taken by another Illinois community. It was suggested by one of the train officials that the residents name their little community Dahlgren, after Navy Admiral John Adolph Dahlgren.
