Stephen Zachman

(1858 - 1925)

Stephen Zachman, son of Lawrence and Anna Zachman, was born in Piopolis, Illinois April 26, 1858, and departed this life October 8, at his home three miles north of Piopolis, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 12 days.

He was united in marriage to Katherine Wenzel, January 18, 1887.  He was the father of ten children, two of whom, Bertha and Clemens, preceded him in death.  Those living are Mary, Elizabeth, Theresa, Agusta, Caroline, Oscar, Lona and Rose.

Mr. Zachman was a life long member of St. John's Catholic church at Piopolis.  He was a patient sufferer for about a year.  The fmaily will greatly miss him as he was a devoted companion and a kind father.

He leaves to mourn their loss besides his immediate family, an aged mother, better known as Grandma Zachman, two brothers and two sisters, Allie Zachman of Belle City; John Zachman of Terre Haute, Ind.; Mrs. J. E. Aydt of this city; and Mrs. Chas. Rubenacker of Piopolis and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Catholic church at Piopolis, October 10, at 8 a.m., by the Rev. Father Jantzen.  Interment in Catholic cemetery at Piopolis.
