William Davis

~WM. DAVIS DEAD~

Wm. Davis was born near McLeansboro, May 5, 1839, and departed this life May 20, 1916, aged 77 years and 15 days.

He was married to Sarah Hayter on February 15, 1860.  To this union five children were born -- Alfred, Ede, Emma, Effie and an infant son.  Mrs. Davis departed this life December 9, 1889.

He was married to Mrs. Hester Hooker December 8, 1890, and to this union was born one child, Marshall.

Mr. Davis is survived by the widow and two children, Mrs. Eda Bond, of Aden, and Marshall, of this city; two step-children, Charles Hooker, of this city, and Mrs. Fannie Witters, of Eldorado; one brother Cawood Davis, of Vincennes, Ind.; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

Deceased professed faith in Christ when about sixteen years old, and has always lived an honest and upright life.  His absence is greatly mourned by the community in which he has lived a life well respected by every man, woman and child.  His every acquaintance was a friend.  Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Funeral services were held at the home last Sunday, conducted by Rev. Frank Wilson.  Interment was made in Odd Fellows cemetery.
