John W. "Bill" Vaughn, 71, of McLeansboro, died at 8:04 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 1996, at his home.  He was a retired farmer.

He was born October 14, 1924, in Hamilton county, a son of David H. and Mary Myrtle (Ingram) Vaughn.  He was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist church.  Vaughn attended Rally Hill School in Hamilton County.

The funeral was at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 3, at Gholson Funeral Home.  Rev. Robert Sefried officiated.  Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in McLeansboro.

Mr. Vaughn is survived by five brothers: Walter Vaughn of Belleville, Thomas Vaughn of McLeansboro, Robert Vaughn of Bartonville, Clyde Vaughn of Bartonville and Joe Vaughn of Glasford, three sisters, Rosalie Richardson of McLeansboro, Hazel Blinn of East Peoria and June Berry of Pekin.

His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
