Enoch S. Upchurch

Enoch S. Upchurch was born March 30, 1854; died March 12, 1917. He was married to Missouri F. Snyder November 19, 1876. To this union twelve children were born, six boys and six girls. Of these, six have preceded him to the Great Beyond. He leaves a widow, three sons, F. G., Charles A. and Harry; three daughters, Mary Harrison, of Flora; Anna McGrakle, of Champaign; and Golden Manion, of St. Louis, Mo. Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schuster, of McLeansboro, and Mrs. Sarah Holmes of Missouri; one brother, James H. of Fairfield, six grand-children and one great grandchild also survive. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and held his membership with the Mill Shoals lodge. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 33 years and united with the Primitive Baptist Church at Hickory Hill and later moved his membership to New Hope church, where he held his membership until death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 13, at New Hope, conducted by Elder Thomas Hooker in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. Interment in the cemetery at that place. |
