Pub. Times-Leader, October 23, 1941 Elizabeth Donley Stephens, daughter of Sebron and Haney Donley was born in Hamilton County, Ill, January 15, 1862, departed this life October 13, 1941, at her home 5 miles East of McLeansboro, Ill., at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 28 days. She was united in marriage to the late George W. Stephens on October 14, 1886. To this union four children were born: Laura Bond, Maggie Higginson and Luther of McLeansboro, Ill., one son, Felix preceded her in death in 1911. She leaves to mourn her departure the above mentioned children, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Julia Wilson of McLeansboro, Ill, Mrs. Mary Davis of Crossville, Ill., Mrs. Lillie Crosby of Brooking, Oregon; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren as they all liked to go see "Ma" Stephens as she was called by them. She had been in poor health for a number of years but bore her suffering with much patience. While never uniting with any church put more trust in the Lord and in her declining years, often expressed her readiness and willingness to meet the Savior. Everything that loving hands and medical care could do was done to make her last days on earth as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Funeral services were held at Concord Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. M. Prince and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. |
