William H. Smith died this morning at 8 o'clock at the family home, 308 Castleton Avenue.  Mrs. Smith was born August 6, 1857, and he was in his 71st year.  Mrs. Smith preceded him in death six weeks (years?) ago.

Up to a short time ago, Mr. Smith was engaged in business as a grocery merchant in this city, but retired a short time ago from the grocery business.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Silas Smith, Belle Rive, and H. W. Smith, McLeansboro, and three daughters, Mrs. C. C. Allen, Marion, Mrs. B. R. Bolheimer, Salem, and Mrs. W. J. Smith, West Frankfort.

Three brothers and two half sisters survive as follows: Logan Smith, E. E. Smith and Charles Smith, McLeansboro, and Lucinda Smith and Mrs. Frances Culpepper, McLeansboro.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church tomorrow after which the body will be taken to Union Cemetery, Hamilton County, for burial  Short services will be held at Union Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist church.
