SINKS, Peter.. died 13 June 1922.  Born; 11 March 1855, Jefferson Co. Illinois. in his home in Dahlgren; son of Powell and Mary (Story) Sinks. Married Ruth Hart, 20 June 1876; 12 children, 4 died in infancy; 8 survive, Mrs. H. A. Larkins, Dahlgren; Charles Edward, William Henry, and Allie Albert Sinks of Mt. Vernon; Mrs Alice Sights of Mt. Vernon; Fred Morlan Sinks, Lincoln; Arthur of Belle Rive and Powell Sinks of Dahlgren.


Ruth Hart Sinks

SINKS, Ruth (Hart) daughter of Marion and Lockie Hart, was born in Woodbury Tenn. July 25th, 1860. On Saturday, May 18th, 1935 the death angel called her home. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until her death.

In the year of 1876, she was united in marriage to Peter Sinks with whom she lived happily until his death.

To this union there were born 12 children, of which for died in infancy, and a Daughter Mrs Vina Larkins who died at the age of 45.

Those who are left to mourn her departure are Edward Sinks of Magnolia, Ill., William Sinks, address unknown, Mrs. Grace Langner, Chicago, Ill., Arthur Sinks, Belle Rive, ILL., Albert Sinks, Mt. Vernon, ILL., Mrs. Alice Marr of Chicago, ILL., Powell Sinks of Chicago, ILL., 34 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, 1 brother and a host of relatives and friends.

She was a true friend and neighbor and always ready to help in sickness and death. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Baptist Church in Dahlgren at 1 O'clock p.m., with Rev. John B. Maulding in charge. Burial was made in the Crisel Cemetery.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to all the friends and neighbors who assisted in the sickness and death of our loving mother, Mrs. Sinks. Signed; THE CHILDREN.
