Roy Everett Scrivner

          Roy Everett Scrivner, son of William A and Julia Scrivner, was born Sept 19, 1894, in Dahlgren, Ill, and departed this life Sept 18, 1928, at his home in DeLand, Fla.  Had he lived one day longer he would have been 34 years old.

          He was educated in the schools of Franklin county and later three years in this county (?).  He entered the service of his country in February 1918, serving only a short time when he was forced to return home on account of ill health.

          He was a member of the Stanley McCollum Post of the American Legion at Benton, Ill.  Also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Knights of Pythias.

          He professed faith in Christ and united with the United Brethren church at Oak Hill about 1913, where he was a member at the time of his death.

          He was untied in marriage to Grace Dudley of Christopher, Ill, Feb 12, 1927.  To this union was born one son, Clifford Eugene, aged 9 years.

          He is survived by wife  Grace and on son Clifford Eugene of DeLand, Fla; his mother, Mrs. Julia Scrivner Mann of  Mulkeytown and three sisters, Muriel Scrivner of DuQuoin; Mrs. Ora Seal and Mrs. Norma Robertson of Benton, Ill.

          He was preceded in death by his father, Wm A Scrivner, and one brother, Carson Elsworth, who died in infancy.
