Obituary Grace Elizabeth Ritchey, daughter of E. B. and Amy Ritchey, was born near Walpole, Illinois March 24, 1897, and passed away July 2, 1925 at Wesleyan Memorial hospital, Chicago, following an illness lasting since Christmas Day. She was 28 years, 3 months and 8 days old at the time of death. She was married to Elmer Satterfield at the home of her parents, surrounded by the friends she loved on August 21, 1915. To this union of happiness two children were born, Clarence Leroy, aged 8, and Amy Rosalee, aged 3. The past six years they have resided at Kankakee, Ill. She is survived by her loving husband, two children, father, mother, six brothers, Sam R., Paul E., Leroy, Earl W., Harry L., and Emmon, three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Carey, Beatrice and Mary, and grandmother, Elizabeth Burnett, of McLeansboro. All was done that medical science and loving kindness could do to spare her life for her dear family, the peace that surpasseth human understanding came to take her in the bloom of young womanhood to join the brother and sister, who preceded her in death. She professed faith in Christ in 1912, and joined the Knights Prairie church in which she remained a faithful member. Many ties during her last illness Grace expressed to her husband and mother her preparedness to meet her Maker. With such faith there are no shadows in the Valley of Death. Funeral services were held in the presence of a large crowd at Knights Prairie church Sunday, July 5, conducted by Elder John B. Maulding, assisted by D. H. Knight. Interment in Knights Prairie cemetery. |
