Obituary
William Rogers
Pub. Times, October 31, 1929 William
Rogers
was born near Dahlgren, Ill., March 5, 1859; died October 16, 1929.
Age 70 years, 7 months and 11 days. He
was the son of James and Elizabeth Rogers.
He lived his entire life within a quarter of a mile of his
birthplace. He
was married to Elizabeth Lovan thirty-four years ago. To this union were born two daughters, who died in infancy,
and five sons, Charles D. of Dahlgren, Ill., Emory E. of Colo Iowa,
Walter C. and Frank L. at home, and Willie of Macedonia. Uncle
William as he was called by all who knew him, was a good, honest,
kindhearted neighbor, a friend to all, ready to give aid and assistance
to any. As
a citizen in the community, he was an honest, upright man of whom any
community would be proud. His
greatest delight was in doing something for his family.
For these he spent his life in honest toil that they might have
the comforts and blessings of a good home. His
illness was of short duration. He
did not worry about death as one of his last statements was that it
didn’t matter which way it went, his only regret was in leaving wife
and children. He leaves to
mourn their loss, his loving wife, five sons, five grandchildren, one
brother, James, of Dahlgren, Ill., Mary A. Lane of Benton, Ill., Nancy
J. Gibbs of Springfield, Oregon. Kate McCoy of Dahlgren, Ill., and a
host of relatives and friends, who will miss him. |
