Eliza Harper Rogers
From: Leader; pub. April 26, 1928
Eliza Rogers, daughter of James M. and Amanda Harper, was born May 2, 1857; died April 20, 1928. She was married to W. J. Rogers on December 4, 1879. To this union six children were born, namely: Gertrude McAfoos, who passed away in 1916; Herman of Harrisburg, Ill.; Ray of McLeansboro; Frank and Ebb of Harrisburg; and Harvey, who died in infancy. She professed faith in Christ early in life and united with Ten Mile Baptist Church, where she lived her entire Christian life. She leaves her husband, who faithfully, lovingly and loyally took care of her through nearly three years of helplessness, to walk the lonely way alone. She with her husband educated the four boys to be honorable, useful, and clean men, who are an honor to any parents. She will be greatly missed in the home, and missed by her firiends and relatives, who loved her dearly. She leaves eight grandchildren; two brothers, M. L. and M. H. Harper; and the dear nurse, who faithfully cared for her so long. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Ten Mile Baptist church, conducted by Rev. John B. Maulding. Interment was made in the cemetery nearby. Carol's note: James Madison Harper was born 1817 in VA. and died September 27, 1873 in Hamilton Co., IL.
