William Otto Maulding

William Otto Maulding son of Ambrose and Rhoda Maulding, was born in Hamilton County, Illinois, January 23, 1863; departed this life November 16, 1928, at his residence in McLeansboro. Age, 65 years, 9 months and 23 days.
He was united in marriage with Mary Josephine Chester on July 3, 1883, and to this union five children were born: John Chester Maulding, now a resident of Los Angeles, Calif.; Earl Ambrose and Joseph Potter Maulding of McLeansboro, Ill.; Lewis Warner Maulding of Aurora, Ill.; and Willa Lucille, now Mrs. Ralph Johnson, of Carbondale, Ill.
He spent his early life on a farm in Crouch township, later moving to McLeansboro, where he engaged in the buying of live stock, and continued in this business for some 45 years, or until death claimed him. He built for himself a thriving business by his fair dealings with his customers.
He was a kind husband and a loving father, a bountiful provider for his family, and a good Samaritan to those in need. Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn their loss, three granddaughters, Bertha Kneiss, Mary Chester and Dorothy Ruth Maulding, one grandson, William Thompson Maulding; also one brother, N. S. Maulding of Belle City; two sisters, Mrs. Samantha Upton of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Geo. Hall of Hutsonville., as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the family residence Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. W. Smoot, assisted by Rev. D. H. Knight. Interment took place in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
