Walter Marion Manning

From Times-Leader, April 12, 1934

Walter Marion Manning, son of Francis and the late Martha Manning, was born near McLeansboro, Ill., August 3, 1884, and departed this life April 6, 1934, age 49 years, 8 months and 3 days.

He was united in marriage to Laura May Cralley on Feb. 13, 1915. To this union was borne one daughter, Laurabelle, who is left to mourn her loss.  His wife departed this life December 18, 1917.

He professed faith in Christ and joined the First Baptist Church of McLeansboro, where he remained a member and attended church regularly as as long as his heath would permit.  He had been afflicted from some years, but bore his suffering with patience, never complaining.

He was also a member of Hamilton Lodge No. 191, I.O.O.F.

Besides his daughter, he leaves his aged father, two brothers, Henry and Douglass Manning and six sisters, Mrs. Flora Rich, Mrs. Ollie Ingram, Mrs. Emma Sneed, Mrs. Laura Wisely, all of McLeansboro, Miss Hazel Manning of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Gertrude Severs of New Harmony, Ind.

His mother and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hurd of Williams, Iowa, and Miss Grace Manning, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro Sunday, April 8, conducted by Elder John B. Maulding, assisted by Elder W. R. Evans.  Interment in I.O.O.F. where the Odd Fellows gave a burial service at the grave.
