Mary Alice Malone, daughter of Eli M. and Nancy J. Nation, was born November 24, 1856, and departed this life at her home in McLeansboro, Ill., September 26, 1926, age 69 years, 10 months and 2 days.

She was united in marriage to Newton J. Malone on January 15, 1874, with whom she lived happily until death separated them.  To this union eleven children were born, all living, namely: Mrs. Juretta Prince, Will, George and Roscoe Malone, Mrs. Mary Compton and Mrs. Bertha Sharp, all of whom reside in and near McLeansboro; Felix and Clarence Malone of Benton; Sam Malone of West Frankfort; Ernest Malone, residing in Colorado; and Mrs. Madeline Hawkins of Christopher, Ill.

She professed faith in Christ when but a girl and united with Beaver Creek Baptist church, being baptized by Elder K. G. Hay.  She later moved her membership to New Hope church.

Mrs. Malone lived a consistent Christian life, and bore her affliction with patience until the Master said, "It is enough, come up higher."

She spent practically all her life on the farm in Hamilton county, where she reared to man and womanhood her entire family of eleven children, living to see them all married and well on in the world before she was called Home.

Besides the above named sons and daughters, she leaves to mourn their loss, three brothers, two sisters, nineteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

We weep not as for those that have no hope, for we can truly say, that a good neighbor, a kind friend, a loving sister and a devoted mother has been called from us to her eternal home above.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in McLeansboro, Illinois, Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1926, conduced by Elder John B. Maulding.  Interment in I. O. O. F. cemetery.
