Melvin Ray LUEKE, 34, McLeansboro, died at 4:40 a.m. January 17, 1988 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Mr. Lueke was born November 11, 1953, a son of A. J. and Emily Margaret (Roesch) Lueke.  On September 7, 1973, he married Donna Hale, who survives.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Piopolis with Rev. Joseph Lawler and Rev. Tom Barrett officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today. At the Haree Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lueke is survived by one son; Matthew Hale Lueke at home, one daughter, Lyndi Raye Lueke at home; his mother-in-law, Goldie hale of McLeansboro; two brothers, Robert Leuke of Hendersonville, Tenn and Donald Lueke of  Dahlgren; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Schoerle) Kaiser of  Elberfield, Ind.,  and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Reyling of Dahlgren, one brother-in-law, Tom Hale of Oeaneco.

Mr Lueke was employed at General Tire in Mt. Vernon.  He was a 1971 graduate of McLeansboro High School.  He was a member of McLeansboro Coyote Club, McLeansboro Elks Club, Eagles and Knights of Columbus.  Also a member of Eagles Bowling Team, of Mt. Vernon.  He was a member of St. John Baptist Catholic church of Piopolis and St. Clements Catholic Church  in McLeansboro.

Mr. Lueke was preceded in death by his mother, father-in-law and one nephew. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
