Charles Ludwig Karcher

         Charles Ludwig Karcher, son of Anton and Christine Karcher, was born at Baden, Germany, October 16, 1854, departed this life April 19, 1931, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 3 days. [Came to this country at the age of 21].

           He was united in marriage to Regina Smith, with whom he lived happily until death claimed his companion, September 2, 1925.

           This union was blessed with ten children, two of whom died in infancy.  Those who survive are Sister Alberta of Alton, Ill., Mrs. Joe Eswine, Mrs. Joe Pfiester, Oscar, Emil and Julius Karcher of Belle City, Louis Karcher of McLeansboro, and Linus Karcher of St. Louis.

          He was a kind a devoted father, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.  He was loved and respected by all who shared his acquaintance.

          He leaves to morn his passing, the above named children, twenty-six grandchildren, one brother, Julius Karcher, of Germany, and a host of other relatives and friends.

          Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, April 21, by Rev. Father Theodore Eckerman at St. John's Catholic Church, of which he was a devoted member.  Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery nearby.
