CHARLES
HUTCHCRAFT, son of Wm. Harrison and Celia (Willis) Hutchcraft
was born
near Aden, Il Jan 20, 1878,
departed this life Dec 12, 1957, age 79
years. He was united in
marriage with Miss Nola Johnson who preceded him
in death. To this union two
daughters were born, Mrs. Gertrude Draper of
Port Huron, Michigan and Mrs. Edith Koch of St. Louis, Mo. In 1913 he was
again
united in marriage with Miss Agnes Helsley, to this union three children
were
born, son, Eugene, Belle Prairie, Marguerite Knight and Lucille Beasley,
McLeansboro.
The early part of his life he attended Oakland City Teachers
College and taught school in the county for several years. He later served
as
cashier in the Wayne City and Belle Prairie banks.
He was a member of the General Baptist Church at Aden, Il.
He loved
his church and was a faithful member until his health failed.
He has been a member
of the
Modern Woodmen for many years. He
served the people of our county as
County
Treasurer, proving to be honest and dependable and has the friendship
of all
that knew him. He had been
afflicted and confined to his room for 11 years.
He bore
his afflictions with great patience.
All was done that medical aid and kind
and
loving hands could do. He has
gone from suffering and labor to reward.
By his passing the wife has lost a devoted companion, the children a
kind and
loving father and the neighbors a helpful neighbor.
He leaves to mourn
his
passing the above named wife, children, 10 grandchildren; two great-grand-
children;
one sister, Mrs. Stella Johnson of Watson, Il; two brothers, John,
Gibson
City and Thomas of Wayne City, besides a host of other relatives and
friends;
a brother Oscar and a grandson, Bernard Lee Draper preceded him
in death.
Funeral services were held at the General Baptist Church, Aden,
Il.,
conducted by Elder Harrison Knight and Rev. Lute Clark.
Burial in
Garrison cemetery. Donelson Funeral Home was in charge.
