From The Times, February 27, 1930

Joel Green, son of Thomas & Abashaba, was born in Hamilton County 23 Nov 1861 and departed this life 25 February 1930.  On 22 May 1888 he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Woodruff.  To this union one son was born 10 Jul 1891.  Joel was reared to manhood on a farm and served for several years as Town Clerk and constable.  In McLeansboro he was in the hotel and restaurant trade, later moving to E. St. Louis.  To mourn his loss a loyal companion, one son, 4 granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughter, brothers John H. (Belle Prairie), George (E. St. L.), Adam (McLeansboro) and sister

Mrs. Tobitha Rose (Dahlgren).  Burial was at IOOF Cemetery.
