Times, August 1, 1929 Alice
America Goin,
beloved wife of Louis R. Goin, departed this life at East St. Louis,
Illinois, on Tuesday. July 23, 1929, at about the hour of 7 o’clock a.m.
She was born near McLeansboro, Illinois, May 20, 1858, and was aged
71 years, 2 months and 3 days. She
was the daughter of John and Rebecca McNabb, and is the last survivor of
her family. With the
exception of a few years residence in East St. Louis, Ill., she lived in
and near McLeansboro, Ill., all her life. She
was converted at about the age of 28 years at a revival meeting at the
First Baptist Church I McLeansboro, and became a member of that church and
remained a member for a number of years.
Later she removed her membership to the Union Baptist Church, of
which she was a member at the time of her death. Mrs.
Goin had been in failing health for about four years, and had been very
poorly for the past two years. She
bore her sufferings uncomplainingly. She
is survived by her husband, Louis R. Goin, two daughters and four sons,
namely: Jennie Campbell, Katharine J. Smith, Roy Goin, Korah Goin, Frank
and Marion Goin, and eleven grandchildren, all of whom live in East St.
Louis, with the exception of Korah Goin of McLeansboro. Mrs.
Goin was a Christian woman, a kind and devoted wife, and a loving mother,
always laboring for the good interests of her family. She was much beloved by all.
She was always ready to give a helping hand to those in need.
In her passing she will be greatly missed by her family and a host
of friends. Funeral services were conducted by Elder John B. Maulding at Union Church. Interment at Union Cemetery. |
