Obituary

Mike M. Ewald

From: McLeansboro Times, July 25, 1927

          M. M. Ewald of Arcola, Illinois, who was hurt in an auto wreck last Sunday night, and who was rushed to the Mt. Vernon hospital with a fractured skull, never gained consciousness and died Monday night.

Ewald and his friend, Simon Karcher, also of Arcola, had spent Sunday with friends near Dhalgren where they had formerly lived, and were returning to Arcola.  Ewald was driving and Karcher had fallen asleep, when near Jeff, in Wayne county, the car overturned pinning Ewald's head to the pavement, and slightly injuring Karcher.

The funeral services were held at St. John's Catholic church at Piopolis Wednesday morning, the American Legion of which he was a member performing their last rites at the grave.

The deceased leaves a widow and two small children to mourn his untimely departure.
