Elijah Newton Webb

1970 Elijah Newton Webb, son of Emery and Indiana Cox Webb was born on March 24, 1894 in Hamilton County, Illinois. He departed this life October 20, 1970 at the age of 76 years, six months and 20 days. He was married to Leona Pearl Tedford who survives on February 27, 1916. To this union were born nine children, five sons and four daughters. Namely, Lucille Barker of Broughton, Illinois; Wayne and Eugene of Dahlgren, Rt. 2; Ethel Mae Coy of Dahlgren, Route 2, Delmar Earl of Fairfield, Illinois; Dena Rose Young of Fairbanks, Alaska and June Thompson of Egypt, Arkansas. Two sons, Johnny and Leroy preceded him in death, also his father, mother and sister, Sarah Johnson. Besides his wife and children surviving are two brothers, Charles Edward Webb and Stanley Webb of Dale, Illinois, four sisters, Pearl Harre of House Springs, Missouri, Grace Tedford of East Alton, Ill.; Georgia McMahan of Belleville, Ill.; and Clara McMahan of Wood River, Ill. He also leaves 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He made his profession of faith in Christ the summer of 1970 and greatly desired to be baptized but was unable due to his long and serious illness.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 22, 1970 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Vernard Ile officiating. Interment was made in Digby Hill Cemetery at Dale, Illinois |
