Wilson Echols

WILSON ECHOLS, son of William and Lavina Echols, was born April 27, 1848 in Hamilton County, Illinois, and departed this life Wednesday, January 5, 1927, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 9 days.

He was united in marriage to Eliza Austin in 1869.  They lived happily until death separated them by calling his companion home April 1, 1881.  To this union, three children were born, one of whom died in infancy.  The living are, James Echols and Mrs. John MAtee, both of McLeansboro.

Since the death of his wife, he has lived alone, except the time he spent with his children.  He professed faith in Christ when a young man and united with Blooming Grove church and has often expressed his confidence in Christ and his preparedness to meet him.  He spent his entire life in Hamilton County and was widely known, having held public office.

He leaves to mourn their loss, besides the above named children, one brother, Henry Echols of Glassford, Ill.; one sister, Amanda Maulding of East St. Louise, Ill.; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Elder John B. Maulding at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John McAtee, January 7, 1927.  Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
