James Alfred Davis

JAMES ALFRED DAVIS, son of William and Sarah E. Davis, who was born near McLeansboro July 29, 1864, died at his home near Aden, Ill., July 3, 1907, aged 42 years, 11 months and 5 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary E. Donley, September 17, 1855.  To this union were born two sons, Fred W. and Frankie E., the latter having died in infancy.

He was converted to the Christian faith in January, 1905, and while he did not unite with any church, he lived up to his profession until his death, and born his suffering for the past six months patiently.

Besides a wife and son, he leaves a father, sister, half brother and many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Prince at New Hope Baptist Church, July 4, after which the remains were laid to rest in New Hope cemetery.
