Carl Williams Hunt, 56, of Route 2, Broughton, died Saturday at 7:05 a.m. at his home.  He was a farmer and a former chairman of the Hamilton County Board.

Mr. Hunt was born in Hamilton County on August 2, 1919, the son of W. R. and Grace (Williams) Hunt.

On August 24, 1939 he was married to Verna McPeak who survives.  He was a member of the New Prospect church.

In addition to serving as the County Board chairman, he was past president of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau, was supervisor of Mayberry Township, was a member of the Saline Valley Conservancy District and was a singer with the Prospectors Quartet.

Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Gholson Chapel in McLeansboro with the Rev. Ernie Essary officiating.  Burial was in New Prospect cemetery.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Pennington, and son-in-law Jerry Pennington of Moro, two brothers, Wayne Hunt, Broughton and Earl Hunt of Norris City; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Short, Broughton and Mrs. Ruth Griffith, Indianapolis, Ind.
