Floyd D. Barringer, 85, of Paxton, Ill. died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday October 18, 1986 at Burnham Hospital, Champaign, after a short illness.  His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton.  The Rev. Allen Kelley officiating.  Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

He was born October 20, 1900 in Witt, Montgomery County, a son of Corwin E. and Carrie L. Lewey Barringer. He married Mable N. Turner November 22, 1922 in Fairfield,  She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jo Gritton, Paxton, one son, Eugene, rural Paxton, one brother Earl, Paxton; four sisters, Viola Meuser, Rantoul; Hettie Mitchell and Fern Shelton, both of Wayne City; and Bessie Mayer, Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and one sister.  Mr. Barringer spent his early years in Hamilton County, where he attended schools.
