From: The Times; February 6, 1913:

Alexander Sloan Tedford was born in Blount County, East Tennessee, March 3, 1829.  He came to Illinois when a young man.  He was married to Priscilla Standerfer, August 8, 1852.  To this union 12 children were born; 6 have gone before and 6 are to follow on.  Those living are March Sarah, John, Austin, Jobe and George.  He was one of the best citizens in the county.  He never gave an individual a piece of bad advice.  He was a loving father and husband.  He was kind to everyone and if he had an enemy on earth, I do not know who it is.  We had no better citizen than A. S. Tedford.  His word was as good as his bond.  He and his wife have lived happily together on the same hill for nearly 62 years.  He passed away February 2, 1913, aged 83 yrs. 11 months and 29 days.  He leaves a loving companion, 6 children, 28 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to miss one of the best friends some of us ever knew.  He was an honorable man from every point of view.  No kinder man to the poor ever lived in this county.  Peace to his ashes.

Elder John Maulding preached the sermon using Matt. 7:25-27 as a text.
