1.  JESSE8 HARDESTY  (HENRY7, FRANCIS6, FRANCIS5, FRANCIS4, THOMAS3, ARTHUR2, WILLIAM1) (Source: Hamilton County Probate Records, Box 5, Executors John G. Millspaugh and William McKenzie.) was born 1785 in Rowan County, North Carolina, and died February 19, 1850 in Hamilton County, Illinois.  He married (1) HANNAH Bef. 1818.  She was born Bef. 1800.  He married (2) SARAH CROFS October 22, 1829 in White County, Illinois (Source: Wedding Certificate, Single sheet of paper, "I do certify that I joined together Jesse Hardistey and Sarah Crofs in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony on the 22nd day of October. Given under my hand this 31st day of October 1829" signed John (unreadable) Justice of the Peace.).  She was born July 31, 1809 in Tennessee, and died August 11, 1897 in Hamilton County, Illinois.

Notes for JESSE HARDESTY:
Jesse and his wife, Sarah were buried on the old Hardesty homestead. Sometime in the recent past the headstones were moved to Albion Cemetery, near Norris City, Illinois,  just prior to the farm being sold and passing from the family.

Notes for SARAH CROFS:
Sarah's last name was probably Cross...in olden days, a figure like 'f' stood for a double 's'. She was 88 years old when she died. Buried on the Hardesty family farm, but her headstone was moved to Albion Cemetery near Norris City, Illinois.

Christopher was a Sergeant in Company K, 6th Regiment, Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War. Still don't know where he acquired the nick-name 'Kit'. He was 52 years, nine months, and 10 days at time of death.

  Muzak systems. He was one of the first people in Cedar Rapids to demonstrate the new thing called 
  'TV' back in the forties!!

Frank had a dispute with some of the family, and left home with his wife. After graduating from University of Chicago, he worked for Swift Meats. He ended up in Charleston, West Virginia...last started his own meat packing plant and went broke during the depression... He worked for Sun Life Insurance company, of Canada in Charleston, and ended up moving his family to Seattle, Washington. He worked there for Pope & Talbert Co., in real estate. He retired and died from a heart attack. At some point in time, Franklin changed his name to Frank Allen; his son is Frank Allen Jr. Ref: Jesse Hardesty's (1853) Bible.
