Alexander Trousdale Sullinger, son of James and Mary (Trousdale)
Sullinger was born in Illinois, probably in Gallatin County area on
January 15, 1814; he died in Hamilton County, Illinois on May 7, 1905
and is buried at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Alexander T. Sullinger and
Eliza Anderson (daughter of John and Mourning (Maulding ) (Anderson)
were married December 10, 1835. To Alexander and Eliza were born
12 or 14 children. According to Alex's obituary there were 12,
unnamed. Eliza died November 18, 1880. In 1882, Alexander
was married again, to Mary Jones who was born in England. There
were no children by this marriage.
Alexander T. Sullinger was a farmer, justice of the peace and marble dealer. How long he worked at the trade is unknown although he is listed as having such employment 18 Jul 1860 (U. S. Census). Gabriel W. Sullinger, a son of Alexander, was killed in a G.A.R. sham battle at Enfield, IL in 1887. James Sullinger, father of Alexander T., was born December 20, 1760. Peter Sullinger, father of James, was born in Orange County, North Carolina. [Many?] Trousdale Sullinger died in Hamilton County, Illinois on April 11, 1844. |
