Chalon G. Cloud, banker of McLeansboro, was born December 24 1846, the son
of A. G. Cloud, whose sketch see elsewhere. He was reared to manhood here,
and educated at Asbury University (now DuPaw), Greencastle, Ind.,
graduating in l870. He was trained in his father’s mercantile business,
and in the spring of 1871 graduated from Nelson’s Business College,
Cincinnati. In 1871 he established his present banking business. His
elegant banking house, completed in the spring of 1882, and the Cloud
residence, adjoining, on the southwestern corner of the public square, are
the handsomest and best buildings of the kind in southern Illinois. April
18, 1883, he married Emma E. Blades, of this county. He is a Democrat. |
