War of 1812
The United States declared WAR on Great Britain on June 12, 1812, and the
battles were fought at sea and on the North American Continent until 1815. The
battle of Fort McHenry inspired Francis Scott Key to write the words to The
Star-Spangled Banner. During the War of 1812, there were 15 states in the Union....the
most recent being Vermont and Kentucky.
If your Southern Illinois ancestor descends from someone who served in the war of 1812, I will gladly place your information here. |
